Tobias Burgers grew up in a little and quit town in the east of the Netherlands. After finishing high school he moved to Amsterdam to start studying political science. The following year he moved to Berlin to continue his studies in political science at the Otto-Suhr-Institute of the Free University, from which he graduated in 2011.

During his studies he focused on peace and conflict - and security studies, with a regional focus on Central - and East-Asia. After acquiring his degree he started working for CRISP as a researcher on various projects, providing the board of directors with research on current and future projects.

He is currently conducting research on and writing their new peace simulation game, called Simvision. In addition to this CRISP work he is since December 2012 a doctoral candidate at the Otto-Suhr-institute, where he researches on the digital and robotic Revolution in Military Affairs.
