Simulation Games on Climate Change

Explore our new information paper on climate change simulation games and experience innovative methods that address the complexity of the climate challenge, empowering participants to navigate interdependent issues, forge collaborative solutions for a sustainable future, and understand the complexities of climate, conflict, and peace.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our latest initiative, a briefing paper on simulation games for climate change. As the world grapples with the growing challenges of climate change, it has become clear that innovative approaches are needed to build understanding, foster collaboration, and identify effective solutions. CRISP's simulation games provide a dynamic and engaging platform to address these pressing issues.

Climate change presents a complex web of interdependent challenges that span social, political, economic, and environmental dimensions. Our simulation games aim to shed light on this complexity while providing accessible pathways for individuals and groups to take action. By actively participating in simulation games, participants can explore different roles and perspectives, test alternative strategies, and experience first-hand the consequences of their decisions. The simulation games focus on three overarching themes: Climate Risk and Security, Resilience and Adaptation, and Energy Transition.

Climate Risk and Security: Explore ecosystem collapse and the risks that climate change poses to social, environmental, political, and economic spheres. Discover ways to mitigate risks and promote long-term sustainable peace.

Resilience and Adaptation: Explore key interconnected issues such as energy, food, trade, water, and social justice. Identify processes, practices, and structures to mitigate damages and capitalize on opportunities created by climate change.

Energy Transition: Examine the relationship between energy, climate change, politics, and conflict. Analyze the complexities of the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources and envision sustainable energy landscapes.

Our simulation games provide flexible learning experiences for a variety of participants, tailored to their unique needs and interests. From students in shorter sessions to seasoned professionals in multi-day crisis simulations, our games promote comprehensive climate change education.
