The training aimed to develop communication and conflict management skills of young peace multipliers and to increase their awareness on active citizenship and intercultural dialogue when working in multicultural contexts. The project was also designed to underline the experiential learning approach as a viable tool for peace-education: the participants, by taking part in simulations and role plays, worked on decision making process and nonviolent communication, analyzing attitude, behaviours and the emotional aspects of the interpersonal relations. Through cross-cultural group dynamics based on cooperative approach, were improved the intercultural skills and the active citizenship’s capacities of the participants, highlighting the importance of the communication competences.
Target Group
The course was for 20 youth interested in active citizenship and eager to acquire new competences on peace education. Each organization involved in the project selected 2 participants for country. They were 22-30 years old. They were able to communicate and work in English. They attended the entire course from 30 June to 7 July 2013.
Project Goals
As outcome, the participants got a better understanding of the complexities of a conflict and of the democratic process, expanding in this way the mutual understanding. “3C for Peace” guaranteed an holistic approach to concretely act for the promotion of human rights and to effectively take part in the social and political life in Europe as informed and active citizens, able to foster a more peaceful coexistence.
