Conflict Counsellor for Internally Displaced Persons

In Septmeber this year 21 participants from the Caucasus met in Tbilisi for a kick-off meeting of the new long-term programme 'Conflict Counselor for Internally Displaced Persons'. A simulation game, theoretical insights into conflict dynamics and practical ideas provided the participants with valuable input on how to work with IDPs and achieve a sustainable integration.

From the 3rd to the 6th of September 21 participants from Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia met in Tbilisi for a kick-off meeting of the new long-term programme ‘Conflict Counselor for Internally Displaced Persons. The participants represented different regions and organisations of the Caucasus working with both refugees and internally displaced persons. The topic of IDP was brought closer to the participants by use of a simulation game called 'Polinaria' dealing with migration and integration issues.

That was the first time many of the participants got in touch with the concept of simulation games. It was accompanied by theoretical insights into conflict dynamics and practical ideas on how to work with IDP and achieve a sustainable integration. Main Goal of this project is to support integration process of IDP, for reaching our goals we develop innovative approaches through simulation games.

We believe that fostering communication among different groups as well as different stakeholders gives people a chance to let different members of society raise important issues and find solutions for the problems that IDP are facing every day. More tranings courses are to follow.
