Go Viral! is a European cooperation project that empowers youth workers and young people to actively combat hate speech and discrimination through innovative, youth-led digital campaigns. The project introduces and tests the Ideathon method as a practical tool for designing viral social media campaigns that promote inclusion, equality, and active citizenship.

By combining non-formal education, digital tools, and international collaboration, Go Viral! supports young people in turning ideas into action while strengthening the professional competencies of youth workers across Europe.

Project Goals

Our project seeks to achieve the following goals:

  1. Strengthen the competencies of youth workers in innovative, non-formal education methods
  2. Promote active citizenship, initiative, and social entrepreneurship among young people
  3. Test and validate the Ideathon method as a tool for designing impactful viral campaigns
  4. Address hate speech and discrimination through youth-led digital activism
  5. Foster European cooperation and shared values
Target Group(s) 

Primary:

  1. Youth workers and educators working with young people
  2. Young people aged 15–35, including those with fewer opportunities

Secondary:

  1. General public in the four partner countries reached through social media campaigns
Planned Outcomes/Achievements
  1. 2 international capacity-building camps for youth workers (Germany & Portugal)
  2. A practical methodology on using Ideathons to design viral campaigns, published on an e-learning platform
  3. Instructional video on applying the Ideathon method
  4. 4 local ideathons (one in each partner country)
  5. 1 international ideathon in Greece
  6. 1 multinational viral campaign launched in four languages on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok
  7. Evaluation report assessing the campaign’s reach and impact
  8. Increased skills, confidence, and practical experience for youth workers and young participants
