The Simulation Game Design Workshop on Holistic Security is a tailor-made online capacity-building programme designed and facilitated by CRISP. The project equips RCS staff with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to design, test, and implement a fully playable simulation game on Holistic Security (HS).

Through an interactive, practice-oriented training process, participants learn the fundamentals of simulation game methodology while co-creating a concrete training tool that can be directly used in their work. In addition to developing a ready-to-use HS simulation game, the project builds long-term internal capacity by enabling participants to apply simulation game methods to other thematic areas.

Project Goals

Our project seeks to achieve the following goals:

  1. Build a strong understanding of simulation game methodology
  2. Enable participants to design and implement a simulation game on Holistic Security
  3. Strengthen practical skills in participatory, experiential learning methods
  4. Provide transferable competencies for using simulation games in other thematic fields (e.g. conflict sensitivity, governance)
  5. Deliver a concrete, ready-to-use training tool for future implementation
Target Group(s)

Primary:

  • Experienced RCS staff members and trainers working on Holistic Security

Secondary:

  • Future trainees participating in HS simulations
  • Organisations and communities benefiting from improved training quality
Planned Outcomes/Achievements
  1. 5 interactive online training sessions (2.5 hours each) delivered over 5 weeks
  2. A fully developed and tested Holistic Security simulation game, ready for implementation
  3. Simulation Game Design Toolkit (PDF with templates and examples)
  4. Facilitation Guide for running the HS simulation game
  5. Evaluation plan for assessing learning outcomes
  6. Session summaries and structured feedback memos for participants
  7. Strengthened internal capacity within RCS to design future simulation games independently
