CRISP conducts dialogue training at the Deutschlandstiftung Integration kick-off event
On 21 June 2025, CRISP organised a six-hour dialogue training course entitled "Democratic dialogue in polarised times" as part of the launch event of the Diversify programme of the Deutschlandstiftung Integration. The focus was on key questions: What characterises democratic dialogue? Why is it essential for social coexistence? How can a respectful dialogue succeed, even if the other party holds anti-democratic positions? And what are the legitimate limits of dialogue? The workshop was based on the conviction that a willingness to engage in dialogue - even with controversial or problematic positions - is a sign of democratic maturity. Because only through targeted dialogue can we counteract social fragmentation, echo chambers and the danger of self-assurance.

Specifically, the 20 participants dealt with key discussion strategies that enable constructive democratic dialogue. In addition to intensive discussions on the effectiveness of these techniques and a lively exchange of experiences on challenging dialogue situations, the strategies were tested in practice in an extensive role play - so that the participants not only took away theoretical knowledge, but also developed concrete skills for dealing with difficult dialogues.
