Are you a committed supporter of democracy and want to gain more experience in navigating polarized discussions on anti-Ukrainian myths? Then join us for our 2.5-day discussion training, where we’ll prepare for complex dialogues of various kinds. We have analyzed anti-Ukrainian narratives in Germany and developed a training program aimed at equipping participants to handle challenging conversations around Ukraine and democracy. After the training, we plan to implement a series of dialogues with the newly trained discussants in everyday locations across Saxony and Thuringia. The goal: to contribute to strengthening democratic forces in Germany.
Key Details:
2.5-day training for future discussants: Friday, November 1st, 3:00 PM – Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, 3:00 PM (Location: to be determined, but in or near Erfurt)
Cost: The training is free of charge, and accommodation, meals, and travel expenses will be reimbursed thanks to BAMF funding.
What you will learn:
Deconstructing and responding to anti-Ukrainian myths, discussion strategies for democratic dialogue.
We are looking for committed democrats with basic knowledge of non-violent communication and a willingness to engage in or moderate dialogues with potentially differing perspectives in everyday settings, such as cafés, pubs, community gardens, markets, sports clubs, etc. Proficiency in German is important, as we aim to dive into meaningful exchanges with people on-site.
For the dialogues, we will form tandem teams, each consisting of one person who grew up in Ukraine and one person who grew up in Germany (preferably in East Germany).
