For the second time, CRISP was invited to speak at the Serious Play Conference — one of the most important gatherings for serious game developers worldwide. On 17 June 2026 in Mainz, Andreas Muckenfuß presented alongside partner Nasser Elmasry (Ludo Inc.), whom he first met at SPC Toronto in 2024. That encounter sparked a collaboration that produced an AI-driven browser game on Konrad Adenauer, Germany's first Chancellor — an educational tool built at the intersection of history, civic education, and game-based learning.
The session was candid: what does it actually look like to develop games as an NGO? Where do you fail, what do you learn, and how do you keep going without a commercial budget? The audience — game developers, public funders, and industry representatives — engaged directly with the real challenges behind serious game production.
CRISP left Mainz as a recognised success story of the SPC community, and with a clearer conviction: cross-sector exchange between NGOs, developers, and institutions is essential to build educational tools that actually work.
The next step is to deepen exactly that — connecting with other developers to share methods, failures, and ideas.
One detail worth mentioning: it was very hot, and presenting at the Sun Stage — literally in the sun — was a tour de force. Worth every drop of sweat.
