SAFE Project Launches with Three-Day Training of Trainers in Berlin

Youth workers and project partners from five countries met in Berlin for a three-day training to prepare national-level facilitators for the upcoming Storytelling Rooms sessions.

In February, CRISP hosted the first Training of Trainers (ToT) in Berlin, launching the project SAFE: Social Awareness for (War) Experience. The event brought together experts from Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Ukraine who will play a key role in implementing the project’s activities in respective countries.

The three-day training focused on “Storytelling Rooms” – facilitated spaces designed to allow young people affected by the war in Ukraine to share and reflect on their personal experiences in a safe, inclusive environment. The program included an array of sessions, such as storytelling, participatory methods, and trauma-sensitive facilitation, all tailored to the sensitive context of the participants' backgrounds. These sessions were critical in refining the methodology, with participants contributing their insights into the development of the "Storytelling Rooms" and discussing expected outcomes. This collaborative approach marked the first step in preparing the local-level implementations.

SAFE, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, is designed to create a lasting impact by offering a toolkit for youth workers addressing sensitive topics. The toolkit will support various youth-focused initiatives, ensuring that the methodology developed through SAFE can be accessed and adapted for a wide range of contexts.
