Youth Leaders Explore Political Strategy and Peacebuilding in AI-Supported Simulation Workshop

In a dynamic, full-day workshop hosted as part of the ODIHR/FES School on Politics, Leadership and Advocacy, 25 young political and civil society leaders from across OSCE participating states stepped into the fictional world of Transolvia, a democracy in transition, to engage in a high-stakes political simulation game facilitated by CRISP.

The simulation, developed by CRISP, immersed participants in a complex political scenario where they took on the roles of political party representatives, youth activists, media professionals, and election observers. Throughout the game, they navigated the challenges of democratic transformation, negotiated coalition agreements, developed campaign strategies, and responded to media scrutiny, all while being guided by an AI-Advisor.

The workshop's cutting-edge methodology combined traditional simulation game elements with real-time artificial intelligence support. The AI-Advisor offered strategic feedback and best practices on negotiation, campaigning, and public communication. This not only empowered participants to make more informed decisions but also created a level playing field for those less familiar with large briefing materials or high-pressure negotiation scenarios.
In addition to sharpening political skills, the simulation allowed participants to deepen their understanding of election observation practices, consensus-building, and media engagement. The fictional scenario of Transolvia echoed real-world political transitions, offering a relatable yet controlled environment for testing new ideas and strategies.
