Project

Advancing Media Literacy in a Wider Community

In collaboration with CRISP and CPS, this follow-up project continues to address the pressing challenges posed by disinformation, by building on the success of last year’s initiative to counter false narratives in Armenia. The follow- up project will expand its reach and develop media literacy in Armenia’s regional areas, focusing on marginalized communities, including non-digital natives in rural areas and refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh.

BENEFICIARIES500

The follow-up project continues our efforts to counter disinformation by empowering individuals with critical media literacy skills in an increasingly digital world. Through a series of trainings, the project promotes informed engagement and societal resilience against false narratives, as well as creates a pool of skilled facilitators who are equipped to conduct media literacy workshops effectively.

Throughout the project, an educational card game will be developed as a gamified methodology that will cater to different competence levels, ranging from beginner to intermediate. The game will focus on key skills such as fact-checking, identifying biases, and analyzing media discourses.  By targeting marginalized communities, including refugees and rural populations, the project addresses the digital divide and strengthens democratic resilience in Armenia.

Additionally, the project fosters collaboration between Armenian and German civil society actors, promoting knowledge exchange and building long-term cooperation.

Project Goals

Our project seeks to achieve the following goals:

  • Continue countering disinformation and false narratives by expanding media literacy initiatives.
  • Empower rural communities, refugees, and non-digital natives by developing media literacy skills to counter misinformation.
  • Strengthen Armenian-German cooperation, fostering long-term collaboration and knowledge exchange in media literacy and disinformation analysis.
  • Build a resilient, media-literate society that actively engages with digital media and resists disinformation.

  • Armenian Media Practitioners: Journalists, educators, and NGO workers are trained to promote critical thinking and counter disinformation.
  • Non-Digital Natives and Marginalized Groups: The project specifically targets disadvantaged communities, including rural populations, refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh, and municipal workers who lack access to media literacy resources.
Planned Outcomes/Achievements
  • Developing a media literacy card game.
  • Media Literacy Training for Trainers: A series of workshops will prepare Armenian trainers to conduct media literacy workshops in their regions.
  • Local Media Literacy Workshops: Workshops will be conducted in rural areas and among marginalized communities, equipping them with critical skills to combat disinformation.
  • Study Visit to Germany: A group of selected participants will travel to Germany for advanced training, facilitating knowledge exchange and fostering international collaboration.
