AI-Supported Peacegame at the EU Community of Practice on Peace Mediation

Exploring strategic entry points for political solutions in active conflict contexts.

CRISP, in partnership with Principles for Peace, hosted an immersive exercise focused on exploring practical pathways toward a sustainable political solution in a protracted conflict context. Set within a fictional diplomatic summit, participants representing international stakeholders – from international powers to regional organizations – were tasked with negotiating key issues such as governance, security arrangements, and territorial concerns. The game was designed to encourage a comprehensive assessment of existing peace frameworks to identify realistic entry points for negotiations.
A unique feature of the simulation was the integration of live expert inputs alongside a context-tailored AI Advisor. The AI tool provided real-time, research-backed data and thematic guidance, drawing on a curated database. Additionally, a separate AI engine stress-tested participants’ ideas and approaches by simulating realistic outcomes. The combined expert and AI support empowered participants to navigate complex policy decisions with enhanced precision and depth.

Key outcomes of the session included identification of incentives for renewed negotiations, proposals for international oversight and stability measures, and strategies for fostering economic development and regional cooperation.
