Cross-Cultural Collaboration: CRISP and Yes Theatre Exchange

As part of the ALFinMotion exchange program, CRISP and Yes Theatre (YT) came together to share their methodologies and explore the integration of simulation games with human-centered design thinking. Their collaboration aimed to adapt these approaches to local contexts and target audiences, laying the foundation for innovative future projects.

The visit aimed at encouraging cross-cultural collaboration between civil society groups from both sides of the Mediterranean, CRISP hosted Dr. Mohamed Issa from Yes Theatre (YT) for an exchange of ideas and expertise.

The two groups met at CRISP’s office in Berlin for a kickoff meeting to discuss the timeline, goals, and expected outcomes of the collaboration.

Over the course of 3 days, each organization presented its approach. CRISP introduced the goals of the collaboration, explained their approach to simulation games, and shared their interest in exploring new methods like virtual reality and artificial intelligence. YT presented their work in drama therapy and theatre, focusing on how different actors are involved in system thinking, which looks at how personal development and changes in systems are connected. Discussions also took place around the concept of human-centered design, which emphasizes keeping the user at the center of decision-making.

The final session was dedicated to evaluating the experience, sharing lessons learned, and planning the next steps, including how to share the developed methodology and reach the target audience. The exchange provided useful insights into how simulation games and drama therapy could work together to inform future projects.
