Using Peacegame to Support National Peacebuilding Strategies

CRISP facilitated an AI-supported Peacegame process in support of a European government’s efforts to shape its peacebuilding strategy in a conflict-affected region.

The simulation brought together key institutional actors and experts for an interactive session, enabling them to test assumptions, explore potential risks, and refine strategic approaches in a safe and structured environment.

Designed in close consultation with the government’s planning team, the scenario mirrored relevant geopolitical dynamics and stakeholder constellations, helping participants navigate challenges such as sequencing of interventions, engagement with local actors, and managing long-term impact. A context-tailored AI Advisor complemented the simulation, providing participants with real-time access to relevant agreements, procedural guidance, and thematic expertise – including on governance and transitional justice.

This format allowed for cross-departmental exchange, surfaced blind spots in early planning stages, and fostered a shared understanding of priorities moving forward. Peacegame proved to be an effective tool for collective reflection, especially in settings where conventional policy development often lacks space for iteration and real-time feedback.
