Advancing Somalia's National Reconciliation Efforts

By invitation from our partner Principles for Peace, CRISP recently took part in a significant strategic workshop organized by the Somali Ministry of Interior, Reconciliation, and Federal Affairs (MoIFAR).

The workshop marked an essential step toward developing the implementation plan for Somalia's National Reconciliation Framework (NRF). The event gathered key figures from the Federal Government, the Office of the Prime Minister, Member States, and other critical national and international stakeholders to collaboratively shape the country's path to reconciliation.

During the workshop, CRISP introduced a tailor-made AI-supported Peacegame, a dynamic tool designed to evaluate and refine the preliminary implementation plan of the NRF. Peacegame played a key role in analyzing the plan's cohesion, testing its resilience against potential threats, and assessing its local applicability. These efforts ensured that the implementation plan was not only practical but also closely aligned with the overarching goals of the National Reconciliation Framework (NRF).

Additionally, we designed the NRF Advisor, an AI-powered assistance tool, to deliver comprehensive insights into the 2024 Somali National Reconciliation Framework (NRF) and National Reconciliation Plan (NRP). Participants can pose questions or seek clarifications, and the tool provides detailed answers with explanations, examples, and actionable recommendations. This facilitates easier access to crucial information, localizes knowledge, and supports effective implementation of the NRF and NRP.

We extend our gratitude to all participants and acknowledge the invaluable support of our partners, whose collaboration was key to the success of this initiative. CRISP looks forward to continuing our partnership with MoIFAR to help bring the NRF to life and contribute to peacebuilding in Somalia.
