Developed as part of the Digital Capacity Building Measures for GIZ's Sport for Development programme, the platform has quickly become a central space for collaboration, learning, and innovation.
Since its launch, the S4D Platform has served as a central hub for sharing knowledge and best practices in Sport for Development, connecting stakeholders across regions and sectors, and driving both local and global impact through sport-based approaches. It has also played a key role in building capacity by offering access to digital tools, interactive courses, and engaging events that empower practitioners to deepen their expertise and expand their reach.
In just one year, the platform has seen remarkable engagement:
- 209 countries connected
- 2,402 active users
- Over 90,000 website visits
- 70+ events hosted
- 3,673 resources downloaded
These numbers reflect the growing momentum and interest in Sport for Development globally, as well as the platform’s role in supporting meaningful action through sport.
The platform was created under a GIZ-funded project that aimed to enhance digital learning and knowledge-sharing opportunities within the S4D ecosystem. By combining interactive tools, curated content, and direct access to a global network, it supports practitioners in scaling the impact of their work.
As we celebrate this important milestone, we invite you to explore the platform, engage with the growing community, and share it within your networks to help expand the reach and impact of Sport for Development.
