CRISP Achieves Major Win: Easier Funding for NGOs

Great news from CRISP! Thanks to collaboration with the Federal Foreign Office and Ministry of Finances, important changes are coming to NGO funding laws.

In a recent decision during the 66th Budget Committee session on November 16, 2023:

What's Changing:
  • Less Red Tape: Making it easier for NGOs to use funds without drowning in paperwork.
  • Fair Reimbursements: Getting reimbursed for travel expenses with a flat rate, based on how far you've traveled.
  • More Time for Projects: Extending deadlines for projects outside the EU and North America to three months.
  • Faster Audits: Speeding up audit processes so projects can kick off without delays.
  • Direct Awards: Allowing projects outside the EU to be awarded directly, as long as it's transparent and cost-effective.
  • New Funding Options: Exploring fixed-sum financing as an alternative.
  • Flexibility with Funds: Being more flexible with third-party funds, allowing more money to benefit the project.
  • Apply in English: Now, even organizations in Germany can apply in English.
What's New:
  • One-Stop Info: A new website from the Foreign Office with all the details about different funding opportunities.
What's Next:
  • Accountability: The Foreign Office will update the Budget Committee on how these changes are working by June 30, 2024.

We are thankful for the support and believe these changes will make NGO funding smoother and more effective!
