First phase of the PRESENTES project ends with implementations in 13 regions of Chile

During the first week of June, the first cycle of workshops of the #PRESENTES project ended, corresponding to the simulation game called "Las Araucarias", a space for playful and didactic participation for children and adolescents.

The workshops, which began to be implemented in September 2021, addressed topics of interest to them, who were able to express and discuss their expectations and desires regarding the proposed new Constitution.

During the implementation of these meetings, the results of all the workshops held during the year 2021 were systematized and delivered to the members of the Constituent Convention so that they could incorporate them into the discussions on the final content of the proposed new Constitution.

More than 1,200 children and adolescents from 91 schools, rights protection offices, sports clubs and rights protection offices participated in "Las Araucarias". At the territorial level, Las Araucarias reached 13 regions of the country, covering communes from Arica and Parinacota to the region of Aysén.

During the workshops, brief interviews were conducted with the participants about their opinion of the activity. From the Samuel Román Rojas school in Combarbalá, a participating adolescent said "I am very satisfied, very happy with the activities that were carried out because, as a student of this high school, from a rural town, we felt heard for the first time, especially in this Constituent Assembly process which is so important for the history of our country". Likewise, from the Polivalente de lo Espejo high school, a participant commented "The workshop is super fun, it is a very good way to socialize with people, meet more people, and talk about how they feel".   Finally, in one of the workshops implemented at the Colegio Bautista Lois Hart, in Antofagasta, an adolescent participant highlighted that: "It is very important to be able to talk about different topics such as education, safety and the environment, and also to inform us that basically we are the future, we are the voice of Chile".

In the coming months, #Presentes will continue working to promote and guarantee the right to participation of children and adolescents through a new simulation game that will soon be released.
