As part of our project "Virtual conflict management - practical training through AI-supported VR simulations", we conducted a comprehensive desk study on international good practices in the field of conflict management. The aim was to identify successful approaches from around the world and examine which could be transferred to immersive VR training modules for youth work.
The study analyses both traditional methods of conflict resolution - such as mediation, peer-to-peer approaches or theatre-based educational exercises - as well as innovative digital formats. Particular attention was paid to selecting methods that are practical, low-threshold and directly applicable in everyday educational settings. In addition, scientific studies and evaluations were taken into account to prove the effectiveness of the individual approaches.
The results of the desk study form the content basis for the development of our first VR training modules. In this way, we ensure that the simulations are not only technologically innovative, but also pedagogically sound and evidence-based. At the same time, we are tapping into the needs of teachers, social workers and other multipliers, which were identified in a nationwide survey.
With the combination of best practices and participatory needs analysis, we create the framework for developing VR training courses that contribute to strengthening conflict skills in schools and youth work in a practical, effective and sustainable way.
