German-Ukrainian dialogue - discussion training 2.0 in Erfurt

From 1 November to 3 November 2024, CRISP conducted an intensive discussion training course in which 15 participants learnt effective discussion strategies to specifically debunk anti-democratic and anti-Ukrainian myths in everyday conversations.

At the Cultural Centre of Ukraine in Erfurt, 15 committed people from Germany and Ukraine took part in a discussion training course at the weekend to strengthen their conversational skills in everyday dialogues and specifically debunk anti-Ukrainian and anti-democratic myths. The aim of the event was to provide participants with effective tools and strategies with which they can confidently counter and refute such myths. Subsequently, with the help of the democratic dialogue method, dialogue events will be offered at various locations such as street festivals, shopping centres, libraries, etc. in order to promote open and honest discussions about peace and democracy in society.

The training included a variety of communication methods that helped participants to respond confidently to prejudices and false narratives. These included practical exercises, role plays and self-reflection, which enabled them to apply and consolidate their new skills immediately.

The aim of the workshop was to strengthen the participants' ability to defend democratic values and contribute to social education. The positive feedback showed that the participants now feel better prepared to take a clear stance in discussions and effectively refute misinformation.
