ARCH Youth Take Center Stage at COP29: Empowering Climate Action from Sudan and Egypt
During the month of November, our ARCH project reached a significant milestone whereby our participants from Egypt and Sudan showcased agency during their participation in COP 29.
At COP29, Sudanese participants from SECS co-facilitated the side event "Youth-Driven Innovation: Tackling Climate Challenges Head-On," where they presented policy paper ideas and launched the "Green Spark" Initiative to link green civil society efforts globally. They also held high-level meetings with representatives from IGAD, the African Development Bank, and the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources, advocating for climate finance, youth participation, and Sudan’s environmental recovery. Through active networking and strategic discussions, Sudanese youth amplified their role in shaping future climate policies for conflict-affected regions.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s Youth Love Egypt (YLE) Foundation organized the side event "Advancing Climate Justice: Policy Solutions for a Resilient Tomorrow," and participated in six additional major events covering topics such as environmental education, green skills for the workforce, and ocean conservation. YLE’s team engaged with key actors from the African Development Bank, the Global Center on Adaptation, and PACJA, promoting youth-driven solutions for climate resilience across Africa. Their strong presence across multiple platforms highlighted the vital role of youth in driving innovation and advocacy for a sustainable future.
