Building Regional Cooperation: ARCH’s Scenario Planning Workshop Tackles Shared Climate Challenges

The ARCH Regional Scenario Planning Workshop brought together Egyptian and Sudanese youth to create collaborative climate strategies, with expert guidance shaping future policy advocacy.

From 3 to 7 October 2024, the ARCH program held its Regional Climate Crisis Scenario Planning Workshop in Cairo and online in Sudan, marking a significant step in fostering cross-border collaboration between Egypt and Sudan. The workshop was designed with a blend of joint and separate sessions, ensuring that both countries could address their shared climate challenges while tailoring solutions to their unique needs. Expert advisors guided participants through scenario planning tools, helping them develop regional climate policies that account for uncertainties like water scarcity, agriculture, and climate-induced migration.

The workshop not only provided participants with valuable skills in policy writing and stakeholder analysis but also prepared them to present their findings at the upcoming ARCH Conference. This collaborative effort emphasized the importance of regional partnerships, with participants forging connections that will strengthen future climate initiatives between Egypt and Sudan.
