On 11 October 2024, a Capacity Building Workshop was held to strengthen the ability of Sudanese and Egyptian youth to monitor the policies they are shaping and advocating for. The workshop began with a joint session, bringing together participants from both countries to discuss the importance of effective policy monitoring in the context of climate change. The session was followed by separate, country-specific sessions tailored to the unique needs and contexts of Sudan and Egypt, ensuring that each group received relevant guidance on monitoring local and national climate policies.
A key focus of the workshop was the preparation for Work Package 4, where participants gained the tools to take agency in monitoring the progress of the policies they’ve influenced or are actively working towards. They were trained in effective monitoring techniques, developed action plans for upcoming national meetings, and were provided with a clear roadmap for continuing their policy advocacy. This workshop not only equipped youth with practical monitoring skills but also laid the groundwork for long-term engagement and impact in climate policy processes.
