Empowering Youth to Track Policy Progress: National YLO Meetings Held in Egypt and Sudan

Meetings in Egypt and Sudan equipped youth with tools to monitor and evaluate the policies they help shape.

Under Working Package 4 of the IKI ARCH project, national YLO-facilitated meetings were implemented to build the capacity of youth-led organizations in monitoring policy progress. The workshops took place separately during the month of February 2025: in-person in Fayoum, Egypt with 17 participants, and online in Sudan with 5 participants.

Participants were trained in practical monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools to track both the policies they have influenced and those related to their key advocacy topics. The sessions aimed to enhance understanding of policy assessment and accountability.

In addition to peer learning, policy experts joined the meetings to provide insights and respond to participants’ questions, helping them critically examine policy development and implementation in their respective countries.

These workshops marked an important step in empowering youth to engage more effectively in climate and environmental governance.
